Beyoncé is pregnant, the world seemed to explode with Beyoncé fever.

In the wake of the news that Beyoncé is pregnant, the world seemed to explode with Beyoncé fever. The singer broke Twitter records when she and husband Jay-Z happily announced their big news at the 2011 MTV VMAs. In hard times like the financial crisis the country is facing now, people look to celebrities for excitement and happiness.

But now, many "normal" expectant mothers are feeling like it's unfair that "Beyoncé pregnant!" is the headline everywhere, while they have to struggle with their announcement. Forbes reports, "For 'real women,' the baby reveal is so much more complicated than sequined maternity gear and a well-timed public relations event."

The thoughtful article interviews pregnant women who agonized when to tell their boss. Many women in the workplace still have to fear discrimination due to having a baby, or not getting enough maternity leave. So when a star like Beyoncé gets to flaunt it and millions of people start pouring in the congrats, it seems a bit unfair. Another interesting fact to note is that celebrities like Beyoncé are able to put their career on hold while having a child and then come back when they choose. Many times their fans are even more receptive to them because they have chosen to be a mom—something which makes them "seem normal." See the paradox: "normal women" are often made to do work from home during their maternity leave to keep up.

Who knew that Beyoncé, pregnant at 29, would stir up such controversy in the wake of deciding to start a family. Probably not she and Jay-Z. Hopefully, women everywhere will take a cue from the pop star and stand up for themselves and their families.
